About us
Certification and engineering services for leisure spaces, water parks, and recreational pools
We are an independent engineering firm and internationally accredited inspection entity by ENAC (ISO/IEC 17020) for the safety certification of water slides (EN-1069:2017 / ASTM F-2376), as well as recreational pools and splash areas with water games (EN-17232:2021 / ASTM F2461).
We are officially certified as a ‘startup entity’ by ENISA (National Innovation Company) and are a ‘member company’ of IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions).
Our team
We are a team of professionals with specific knowledge and experience in the sectors in which we work. Additionally, we have several collaborators, both nationally and internationally, that enable us to offer services perfectly tailored to the needs of each project and client.
The members of The Fun Lab are part of different technical working teams responsible for reviewing, updating, and modernizing the safety standards in water parks.
Specifically, we are members of the Technical Body CTN 147/SC 2/GT 1, belonging to the Spanish Association for Standardization (UNE); the group CEN/TC 136/WG 3 of the European Committee for Standardization; and the Technical Committee F24 of ASTM (Amusement and Rides). Likewise, we actively participate in the Water Park Safety Committee of ASOFAP (Spanish Association of Professionals in the Pool Sector).

Santiago García Gimeno
Technical Director - Engineering and Inspection Department
Graduate in Engineering with specialization in hydraulic systems. His professional career has been focused on the comprehensive management of water park and pool projects both nationally and internationally, having worked on over 250 projects throughout his career. He assumes the technical direction of the company and the water inspections area.
Javier Salvador Marín
Managing Director - Consulting and Business Division
With academic background in Digital Business, Marketing, and Communication, his professional career has been focused on strategic planning and consulting projects for major clients in the tourism sector internationally. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Tourism at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Juan Diego Zapata
ENGINEERING AND INSPECTION DEPARTMENT
With a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Hydraulic Engineering and Environment, he combines his work in the Inspection Department with those in the Engineering Department, technically developing projects for new water leisure areas, as well as providing support for R&D projects and the Blue Leaf Standard.
Melis Aloğlu
EASTERN MEDITERRANEAN REGIONAL DELEGATE - TECHNICAL AUDITOR
Trained as an architect, her professional career of nearly 10 years has been focused on the design and execution of water park and aquatic facility projects, working for various manufacturers in the industry.
Jeanette González
Regional Delegate - Caribbean and Mexico
Holds a professional degree in Hospitality Management, with over 10 years of experience in the hotel and tourism industry. She has worked as a Sales & Marketing professional for internationally recognized luxury brands. Her key competencies have led her to build strong relationships with business partners, media, and clients both nationally and internationally.
Sonia Bassols Delgado
OPERATIONAL SAFETY DEPARTMENT - EXTERNAL COLLABORATOR
With training as a Senior Technician in Chemistry and Environmental Health, she has a career of over 10 years in the management of consulting services and training in operational safety and lifeguard protocols for pools and water parks. Additionally, she is an instructor of lifeguard and rescue programs accredited by the Spanish Royal Federation of Lifesaving.
Héctor Orozco
Caribbean Regional Delegate - Technical Auditor
As a certified lifeguard and instructor, he has over 20 years of experience in safety, operations management, and lifeguarding in water parks and recreational pools.

With training as a Senior Technician in Chemistry and Environmental Health, she has a career of over 10 years in the management of consulting services and training in operational safety and lifeguard protocols for pools and water parks. Additionally, she is an instructor of lifeguard and rescue programs accredited by the Spanish Royal Federation of Lifesaving.
